Trim our tree & meet a bona fide blacksmith
Step back in time at the Goulbourn Museum’s Old-Fashioned Christmas this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free and there will be a wide range of fun family activities to get you in the holiday mood!
- Thread cranberries and popcorn and trim our outdoor tree in vintage style!
- Watch a bona fide blacksmith at work! In addition to giving demonstrations, blacksmith Mark Garvock of Fall River Forge will also have some of his hand forged iron work available for purchase.
- Listen to holiday music on a handmade street organ. Alan Rushforth‘s musical medley and festive animatronics will put a smile on anyone’s face. A retired Aeronautical Engineer, Alan’s talents are incredible. He loves to tinker and even created the snowmobile simulator at the Canadian Museum of Science and Technology!
- Write a letter to Santa. The Calligraphy Society of Ottawa will also be on hand to help adults draft beautiful gift tags.
- Have a photo taken with Santa! No shopping mall line ups here! Get it printed in colour or old-fashioned sepia tone.
- Roast marshmallows by the fire & warm up with hot chocolate & apple cider. Volunteer extraordinaire Lynn Griffiths will also be bringing her homemade cookies for visitors to sample.
- When it’s time for lunch, Pizza All’Antica will bake your fresh, personal size pizza in their wood-fired oven while you wait!
- And, last but certainly not least, there will be a selection of talented vendors peddling their wares at an Outdoor Artisan Market. Bring your Christmas list and get a head start on your shopping.
Goulbourn Museum is located at 2064 Huntley Road in Stittsville. Free parking is available on the street.
