Meet Laurianne, this year’s Education and Engagement Summer Student. Laurianne is originally from Stittsville and is a fully bilingual staff member. She has recently completed her undergraduate studies in Anthropology and Art History at St Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia and is pursuing further studies in the Ottawa region. This engaged and passionate young woman hopes to further her studies in the region to help serve her community in an educational capacity. She has previously worked at the Diefenbunker and has been a tour guide in Ottawa for 3 years. She has done extensive volunteer work at Vintage Wings of Canada.

Laurianne is fluent in French and English, she has also studied German in Nova Scotia where she received multiple awards for her studies in the language and was a representative of the students in the German Program. She represented the student perspective during a trip to Ottawa organised by the German Embassy to showcase the long collaboration between the German course at StFX and Mi’kmaw artist Dr Alan Syliboy. Laurianne fosters a genuine interest in cultural exchange and enjoys getting to know others and their perspectives.
