The Museum’s Heritage Garden is bursting with fresh veggies and herbs so this week, we decided to try making our own herb butter using rosemary, thyme, and parsley from the garden!

This recipe was super easy to make and delicious on a piece of fresh bread. All you’ll need to make this recipe is a block of butter, your choice of fresh herbs (we chose parsley, thyme, and rosemary for our herb butter, but any combination would work just fine), a spatula, a bowl, a cutting board, a knife, and a container to store your butter.

Step 1: Place your butter in a bowl and use a spatula or a fork to soften it up.

Step 2: Use your knife to finely chop all of your herbs. The finer they are chopped, the better!

Step 3: Add your herbs to the butter and stir until they are mixed evenly.

Your butter is now ready to be served! Place any extra butter in a container and store in the fridge.

Don’t have any fresh herbs at home? Come visit us at the Goulbourn Museum and check out our Heritage Garden! You can learn about all of the different plants in our garden and take home some fresh herbs (and veggies!) to try out this recipe in your own kitchen!

All of the veggies and herbs in the Heritage Garden were grown and cared for by Grade 6 students from Goulbourn Middle School as a part of the Growing Goulbourn program.
