Meet the Artisan: Dragonfly Dreamers

November 13th, 2015

dragonfly_dreamers_02

Dragonfly Dreamers‘ jewelry is inspired by textures and layers in nature and life. Although the main focus is copper, you will also find other metals as well as found object, resin and beads. Many types of metal smithing techniques are used in creating the jewelry with cold connections being a favourite.

Artist Wendy Southin believes in living a creative life which includes sharing both the finished product as well as the process. She is lucky to have a home studio where she can create as well as teach others her process of jewelry making and other altered art ventures that she enjoys.

You will find Wendy and her beautiful jewelry in the vendor tent at the Museum’s Old-Fashioned Christmas & Outdoor Artisan Market on November 22.

Black Sheep Artisan showcases the work of Katy Hampson-Reid. Katy creates felted wool and polar fleece lined mittens made from 80-100% wool sweaters. Each pair of wool mittens is sewed by Katy, are 100% unique to each other, and washable.

Black Sheep Artisan began in 2014 as a labour of love to create gifts for friends and family while using upcycled materials. The demand was significant. “We chose to start selling them publicly and the reception as been great! We have not looked back.”

Katy will be bringing her mitten masterpieces to the Goulbourn Museum’s Old-Fashioned Christmas & Outdoor Artisan Market on November 22. Save the date & bring the whole family – there will be free holiday activities, photos with Santa, and more!
