City Approves Moving Bradley/Craig Barn to Munster

January 27th, 2016

Despite a city staff report recommending otherwise, the Ottawa Planning Committee voted 7-2 yesterday to demolish and move the Bradley/Craig Barn to Saunders Farm in Munster. The decision was approved by city council today.

Local resident Jim Evans spoke at the committee meeting in favour of protecting the barn, as did Glen Gower and Stittsville Village Association President Tanya Hein. The Goulbourn Museum Board of Directors also submitted a letter to the Committee requesting the demolition permit be denied.

In order to relocate the barn, Richcraft, the current owner, plans to take it apart, number each piece, and ship it to Saunders Farm to be rebuilt.
